Cafe news

After a year of “up for sale” and some soul searching we came to a conclusion a number of months ago that our situation was such that as a family are able to keep The Big Rock Café. Thank-you for all your encouragements and support as you have responded to the news . We are thanking God for keeping us through the pandemic and staff sickness. Many will know we have traveled regularly to Bristol to support Charlottes family through a tricky patch. It was that removal from the café and staff stepping up into new roles when required that has enabled us to move into new to things.

We welcome Robert Leslie and Aled Hewitson to team Big Rock. Joining Cath and Gwen , Rosie, and Carolyn , kim, William , Elaine and Gethin. Robert has made some super brownies and “muddy welly” in his time with us and goes from strength to strength. Aled is our “live in” member of staff and has responsibility for the building and its many problems. He comes from a sales background and enjoys the challenging of front of house . His cappuccino is pretty good already and he is well on the way. We as saying goodbye to Rosie in June as she heads off to the high seas for more sailing adventures. She has kept things going and we have enjoyed her effort in bakery and upstairs keeping things going .
The whiteman family have spent the last year packed up and made the move to Bristol early march and are now making plans for the summer which will no doubt including some caravanning and restoring of the soul in green pastures .
I’m spending some more time on the website Where you will now find café menus and “post-able” cakes. As well investing more time in my new ‘don’t walk in the dark” project
We rejoice every day for what God has done. Giving us a strong and lasting staff team. And for fresh staff at the right moment . But over all that the witness of Big Rock on Porthmadog high street is still here !
